Jetta
Moving out of state and am selling my 1996 Volkswagen Jetta Trek (comes with rack!). It has 156,220 miles on it. It runs well, has always been dependable and has never stranded me. However, the check engine light is on and runs rough at idle sometimes. This will need to be fixed before you take to DEQ. It is a 5 speed manual.
I am the second owner. I bought her in 2000, and have driven her for over 8 years now. I am moving out of state and cant take her with me.
Interior: Great condition. Cloth seats with no rips, tears or otherwise. Carpet on floor in good condition as well. Custom cup holders and radio mount. Interior is really in great condition.
Exterior: Has some dents and bumps here and there. Never in an accident. I do have the plastic rubber side trim pieces, but they always fell off, so I just went without for the last year. The car has foglights, but they are in a bag right now, you would have to reinstall. Comes with rook rack and keys for rack! BMW rims are in good shape. Tires are 2 years old, lot of life left on them and all replaced at the same time.
All in all, good car, especially at this price. No alarm. But it does have driver and passenger front air bags. The car needs some work, what with the check engine light. Sometimes at idle, especially with the air conditioner on (which works) the car will idle rough and stall now and then. Perhaps this is related to the check engine light?
Also, the parking brake lever does not stay up. If pulled, it does lock up and stop the car, but it wont stay engaged. I've used a bottle to keep it up and this works fine, although looks tacky. Probably a cheap fix, but I dont know.
Timing belt was changed at 60,000 and 120,000 miles. Routine maintenance done such as oil and filters at standard intervals.
The car is not a salvage, never been in a wreck. I have the paperwork for you to go to the DMV to get the title. It will cost $110. I went to the DMV yesterday to confirm this.
Asking only $700.
You may come by and take a look at her at any point. I need the car until Tuesday as its my only vehicle. If you like it, put half down ($350), then come pick up Tuesday and pay the remainder.
Email me for more information. I live about 3 miles south of downtown Portland.
